I am an effective and creative communicator with a good grasp of the reality of business. Having written for the electronics industry and for universities I am good at explaining complex or technical subjects in an engaging and easily understood way.
From 2002 to 2007 I was the Publications & Internal Communications Manager at Olympus UK. This gave me responsibility for the company’s subscription photography magazine, Olympus User, as well as for its staff communications. I wrote features for these publications, briefed designers and proofread. I was the UK point of contact for global internal communications and managed a small team of staff. After leaving Olympus UK’s employment, I wrote corporate communications for its European head office in Hamburg and continued as the Consultant Editor for its customer magazine.
In 2013 I moved to Kingston University, where I wrote online news features and articles for its printed corporate magazine, as well as for staff communications. This was followed by six years in a similar role at Goldsmiths University of London, where I lead staff communications and wrote news features on academic research. I took early retirement from Goldsmiths in 2021
In my spare time I am an enthusiastic cook and was once interviewed to be a contestant on The Great British Bake Off. I collect antiquarian recipe books, some of which date back to the 18th century.
